My fear is that as we (rightfully) dismiss Camping as a legitimate teacher of the bible, we will also dismiss by association what is a very important part of being a disciple of Christ.
We are to be longing for the return of Christ and the end of the world as we know it.
We live in a broken world. All you have to do is to look around and that much is evident. Our bodies break down with disease. We hurt those we love the most with selfish words and deeds. There is pain, heartbreak, and sorrow all around us. Nothing we do can change the fact that all of creation is fractured because of sin.
Only one thing, one person can put things right.
And one day that is exactly what is going to happen.
Jesus will return in glory. When He does there will be a new heaven and a new earth and He will reconcile all things to Himself. On that day, all that is wrong with our world will be finally and completely overthrown. The elect will spend eternity in the presence of our God and sin, pain, death, and sorrow will be no more.
But that day has not arrived yet. Until then, our job is to be His ambassadors here on earth. We take the message of the gospel to all people in all nations. We live our lives for the glory of the Savior.
And we hope...we pray...we fast...we long...and we join John in Revelation 22:20 in crying out "Come, Lord Jesus!".
