All Things Work For Good

It has been a while since I have posted anything here.  Strangely enough, even without a job I have been really busy.  The past 2 or 3 weeks have been quite a roller coaster ride around here.  There have been some pretty difficult times and some incredibly amazing times as well as we wait and watch what God is doing in our lives.

My job hunt continues as it has since the week before Thanksgiving when my pastoral position was cut due to finances. (I do have some good prospects and an interview this week.)  Katherine is also looking for work in case I am unable to find a job that will enable her to continue stay home with our 2 youngest girls.  We are also waiting for our van to come back from the shop.  We have been without it for almost 3 weeks after Katherine was in a wreck on Broad Street.  No one was hurt but having no van with 4 kids has been challenging.  We were able to borrow a car from my parents that we all fit in (just barely). In these circumstances, God continues to prove Himself faithful and He continues to conform me more and more to the image of His Son.

There is one very exciting thing that God is birthing out of this time.  In His grace, He has surrounded us with some very Godly families who not only have been instruments of God's grace and provision during this season for us, but also are now being used to join with us in a new, exciting work of God.

I am joining with these 2 other men and their families to start a new church.  What excites me most about this is that both of these men share my passion for discipleship and my belief that the church is meant to be above all else a place designed by God for His children to worship Him and to be built up by the gifts of their brothers and sisters.  The church plant that I am a part of now is founded on the belief that glorifying God by raising up whole, healthy, reproducing disciples of Jesus Christ is the ultimate calling of the church and that everything else should feed into that calling.

This church that God is allowing me to be a part of beginning is called LifeSpring Church.  You can find out more information at www.lifespringrome.com.  Please let me be clear that my goal is not to convince you to leave your current church to come to LifeSpring.  As we are currently set up, we have no overhead costs - no salaries, no building expenses, nothing.  So we aren't desperate for people to come so we can pay the bills.  We are only concerned about faithfully ministering to the people who God sends our way.

If you would like more information about LifeSpring or about why we are starting it, even if you don't believe you will attend or join us, I would love to tell you about it over coffee (or via Facebook or Twitter or whatever).  Just comment on this post and we can set it up.

Continue to pray for me and my family that we will follow Him boldly in faith where ever He leads and that He would have His way as we begin to minister at LifeSpring Church.

Disciple, Husband, Father, 3rd Grade Teacher.
